Born Chelsea Joy Handler to Seymor Handler and Rita Stoecker in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975, the young girl was raised in Reform Judaism due to his father’s Jewish ancestry. Despite having a Bat Mitzvah ceremony, she later claimed that she never fit in the community. She described her Jewish neighborhood as being nice and filled with expensive cars such as Jaguars and Mercedes while she drove a Fiat Punto.
When she was 19, Chelsea moved to Los Angeles, California in order to become an actress. However, she became a stand-up comedian instead.
